Past winner profile - Celebration of Scouting Awards

28th August 2019

With the deadline for nominations for the Celebration of Scouting Awards 2019 edging closer, we’re continuing to profile some of last year’s winners.

Next up is The All Wales Scout Camp Team who won the Group Award 2018.

The All Wales Scout Camp Team has successfully organised and delivered the All Wales Scout Camp every two years and 2018’s event was the largest to date.

The event was attended by around 1,500 people from across Wales who spent their weekend gaining Skills for Life including driving, fun in the Boing Zone and trying their hands at adventurous activities such as ziplining.

The Scouts were also given the opportunity to take part in activities that were provided by external organisations, such as the Ice Maidens and Welsh Youth Parliament. The team that was made up of volunteers and Explorer Service Team members ensured that there were activities available for all who attended no matter their interests or abilities.

The team also took part in an Instagram take over of the ScoutsCymru Instagram account, making themselves available to answer questions from participants in the lead up – a perfect example of the hours dedicated by the team both before and during the event.

As well as putting together another amazing camp, the team made improvements from previous events such as ensuring that 2018’s camp was more eco-friendly by having recycling facilities available on site. The team also made changes to the booking system that ensured the process was smooth for all participants and organisers.

Congratulations to the team for its achievements!

The Group Award is one of eight categories you can enter in the Celebration of Scouting Awards 2019.

The deadline for entries is Friday 6th September and winners will be announced at a ceremony during the ScoutsCymru AGM in Llandridnod Wells on October 26th.
