1st Welshpool (Clives Own) Scout Group open new Centre

15th October 2014

The 1st Welshpool (Clives Own) Scout Group have been meeting in a dilapidated building for many years, so poor that it looked like an old cow shack!

Now they are proud they can now announce the opening of a brand new facility.  It has been built with an ultra-modern approach and has a hall that can be divided into two with each half sound-proofed from the other.  It has two meeting rooms, a soon to be internet cafe, a comprehensive kitchen and office.

The Group Scout Leader, Mr Farrell McManus, the man who’s hard work and vision has been the main reason for the success of the project said; “Our building has underfloor heating via an air source heat pump, solar panels providing all the electricity and WiFi throughout.  I don’t need an excuse to invite everyone and anyone for a look round”.

The building is now officially the 1st Clives Own Welshpool Scout Headquarters and Community centre (COWSHACC), looking nothing like the old cow shack!   Cub Scout Section meetings are held there on a Monday evening and a Scout Section takes place on a Friday.

It also has pilates, bingo, and fitness classes and is open for more lettings. For more information you can contact Kylie Alder, the Centre Manager:-
