Hill & Moorland Leader (HML) Training Course

Fri 15th Nov - Sun 17th Nov 2019

About the Hill & Moorland Leader (HML) Scheme
The HML Scheme  is for regular hill walkers, who would like to lead groups away from paths and enjoy our wild places such as the Brecon Beacons, Dartmoor and the Peak District. This qualification which is nationally accredited by Mountain Training (MT) will provide you with the skills required for effective group leadership in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. It is a popular award and is used extensively by those involved with delivering the Duke of Edinburgh Award and many Scout Leaders. Completion of this award would normally qualify Scout Leaders for a Terrain 1 Hillwalking permit without further assessment.

How Do I Get Involved?
In order to attend this course you will need to register for the scheme with Mountain Training (Cost £47) and also confirm that you have completed 20 quality HML days. You must also be a member of the British Mountaineering Council (BMC)

After completing this course, in order to complete the award, you would need to spend some time consolidating your training before attending an assessment course (3 days)
